Jing Jin Tuina

The Tuina massage is part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the same way that Thai massage is part of traditional Thai medicine. Chinese medicine comprises several elements: acupuncture, moxibustion, pharmacopoeia (plants, animal extracts, minerals) and a manual approach, Tuina.
Tui means “to push” and Na means “to grasp.”
It is one of the manual approaches of Chinese medicine, its traditional massage. Tuina is an approach that treats neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions. The philosophy and orientation take into account the main principles of traditional Chinese medicine, including the path of the meridians, the concept of energy circulation, acupuncture points, and cupping.
And what about jing jin?
These are tendino-muscular meridians. The 12 Jing Jin represent a superficial network corresponding to the skeletal muscles under the control of the main meridians.
It is now accepted that the tissues of the human body function as a whole, with each structure connected to another, none functioning in isolation. It is from the perspective of TCM, through tuina of the tendino-muscular meridians, that we approach this course.
As Jean-Pierre Krasensky, podiatrist, osteopath, tuina practitioner, and author of Tuina: The True Traditional Chinese Massage (published by L'Originel) states: " The fundamental objective of tuina is to preserve or restore the proper circulation of energy and blood for the well-being of the individual by preventing organic imbalances, relieving pain, removing various blockages and obstructions that may occur in the body, thereby treating not only minor ailments but also acute and chronic diseases. "
Like Thai massage, tuina is performed over clothing, but the recipient is positioned on a table or chair.
Like Thai massage, tuina is a wonderful technique brought to us by Asian tradition, as enjoyable to receive as it is to give.
